Superb screen capture tool
Voila is a slick screenshot tool with a powerful ability to capture just about anything on your screen. Its slick interface has been considerably improved in recent versions, with features added such as blurring, iSight integration, Flickr support and screencast editing.
Voila can capture any shape, such as Circular, Polygonal, Triangular, or Freehand objects. You've also got standard capture tool options, such as Menu Capture, Fullscreen Capture, Object Capture, Rectangular Capture and a Timed Capture as well. A lot of effort has gone into integrating Voila with other image applications and sites and so you can send and open files from iPhoto and Flickr. Voila is also integrated with Mail if you want to send your screen grabs immediately.
Voila features all the standard options you expect from a screen capture tool, including annotation tools that allow you to add text, arrows, lines, crop and even add watermarks. There are a few filters too, including blurred, torn and framed edges. Exporting from Voila can be done to PNG, JPEG, TIFF, PDF, GIF and BMP formats.
The overall accessibility of Voila is what impresses the most. Easily accessible from either the menu bar or Dock, your hand never needs to leave the mouse to reveal it. Added to the fact that recent captures are easily visible along the bottom of the interface, you're never left searching your hard drive for captures.
The most recent useful addition to Voila is the ability to trim screencasts using QuickTime. The editing features could do with a little extending but it's sufficient for basic cutting.
If you've got a steady hand, Voila allows you to grab objects that would otherwise be limited to the square or rigid capture parameters of most general screen capture apps. An excellent screen capture application that's come a long way in a short time.

Really great and simple to use. I'm constantly needing a simple tool to take screenshots, but the built-in mac version only does a high-res thing, which results in large images and bloated powerpoint presentations, etc. I like that this really easily allows me to capture and paste images to presentations, social media, etc. Cheap and functional, a great buy. Loved this app on 2011 imac (computer no longer works) but after repeated attemtps to add needed audio driver on new Imac 2020 Catalina it will not record audio of what is being recorded on screen. everytime I click the "Record Computer Audio" box then download and follow instructions then clicking box again after restart install driver prompt "Voila needs to install an audio driver"reappears, best app ever but useless without the ability to record computer audio, too bad. Freakin' Love It!.
I've been using Voila for a couple of years now. Right off the bat, it was marvelous, but the series of improvements since then has made it simpl(y) magnificent. If you want to copy what's on you monitor (a portion, or all of it (including sound)) I'm aware of nothing even close to Voila. Marvelously easy to use. Every capability in which I'm interested. The only thing I'd like to see changed is the emptying of the trash. I wish it could be transferred from the Viola trash file into my Macintosh trash files so I can eliminate it more securely than is possible when simply emptying the Voila trash. More

SnagIt replacement on Mac!.
I am a switcher for the past one year and I was looking for a screen capturing app which is of equal quality of SnagIt on Windows for my tutorial work. I read reviews and heard of it in the Macworld Awards, so gave a try. This is one of the most powerful screen capturing app coming close to SnagIt on Mac. I have been enjoying this app for quite some time. Some features have been handled better than SnagIt however, some areas needs to be improved. When I conveyed this to the developers, they were very responsive and that's support!Someone who is missing SnagIt on Mac, or looking for advanced capturing and editing options should definitely buy this.
Pros:
- Various capturing methods including shapes, freehand and web as well
- By far the best annotating and editing options
- Easy to use interface
- Best value for money
- Excellent customer support
Cons:
- Missing video capture (though I predict it would come soon)
- Sharing options needs to be improved
- Some improvements in the tagging, describing, renaming required More

Par excellance.
I just love the app. It's just so handy. I have been using it for a while now. Infact i used some other capturing tools as well, however none of them as user friendly as Voila. The new version is even better. I like the part where you can immediately publish your work on Flickr and also instantly mail it.
Pros:
Capturing multiple DOM elements
Easy publishing to Flickr
Organizer
The in-built Voila browser Cons:
No video capturing option More
